Our History

1st September 2024 is the start of the Methodist year and not only is there a new Methodist District and our new circuit there is a new church community. The Village Methodist Church unites Sale Moor and Trinity Methodist churches. Our history is new - please see below a little about our previous churches and all we bring to this new relationship.

Sale Moor Methodist Church has been a witness in the area since 1839, originally as a Primitive Methodist Church, and now as a congregation with a strong family feeling. Over the years, the building has been updated to create a set of ‘modern’ premises that is used extensively by both the Church and the local community. The premises are ‘disabled-friendly’.

The congregation is hardworking and friendly, with a heart for prayer, sharing our faith and worshipping God together. There are numerous children’s activities, plus activities for the ‘more mature’. Our activities cover every day of the week, including fellowship and Bible study groups. You will be warmly welcomed!

Trinity Methodist Church first opened for worship on Northenden Road in 1875 when the congregation from the Broad Lane Chapel, built in 1820, moved into its new premises. In 1980, the main Church building was sold and worship continued in the converted Church hall. Since then it has undergone many changes, resulting in premises that are suitable for disabled access, used by many groups from the community.
