The Spiritual Home Pledge

For many LGBTQ+ people, church hasn’t always been a safe place. Some of us have been told we couldn’t lead, love, or belong unless we changed who we were. Others have walked away from faith altogether—not because they stopped believing in God, but because the Church stopped believing in them.

At Trafford Methodist Churches, we believe that’s not the gospel.
The gospel is good news—for everyone.

We wrote the Spiritual Home Pledge as a clear, unapologetic statement of what you can expect from us. No mixed messages. No hidden agendas. No caveats.

If you’ve ever longed for a community where your faith and your identity can exist together in peace—where you can bring your whole self to the table and be celebrated, not just tolerated—then this is for you.

This is our promise to you:
You don’t have to change to belong. You’re not an exception. You are loved.
This is your spiritual home. And we’re so glad you’re here.

The Spiritual Home Pledge

From Trafford Methodist Churches – Fully Inclusive, Proudly Affirming

To everyone who has ever felt pushed out, prayed against, or made to feel unworthy—this is our promise to you:

1. You are safe here.
We will not shame you, question your identity, or try to change you.

2. You are sacred.
Your body, your love, your gender, your story—they are all reflections of God’s image.

3. You are not alone.
This is a community where LGBTQ+ people are not just welcomed, but celebrated.

4. You are not an exception.
You have the same right to marry, lead, preach, pray, and participate as anyone else.

5. You are enough.
You do not need to become someone else to belong here.

6. You can come home.
If you’ve been walking without a place to rest your soul, we’ve saved you a seat.

Signed in love and faith,
